Did you knew that 1st generation pokemon ekans and arbok, named after snake and cobra, are named in french abo and arbok, after boa and cobra?

After double checking, I also found out the french version is super close to the japanese, which is also an anagram of boa (ボア is the animal, アーボ is the pokemon). It's funny to me that the base version in english is a generic snake
