@WestLawns @aeva traditional lava lamp does need stirring but not the mechanical one. They are made of two medium, one heavier/densee when cold. The light under it will heat it up and some part of it will turn less dense making it bubble up. Hence a form of stirring as an outside influence will disturb the medium.
Here I was imagining the gear moving bubble-like item, producing movement similar to one in a lava lamp.
