The most true description of current AI I saw might be in the fantasy anime Fieren, with the demon. Everytime the anime touch their relation to language, I'm wrenched out of the illusion of bielief. Not because it's not credible but because it's spot on to our slopbot.
It's little dialogue like "why do you saybit hurt", "it's like a magic formula that make you human stop". Or the dad story.
Our bot spew words because it know we expect it but not why. It doesn't know what it says.
