There is this trope in scifi where "higher intelligence entities" will provide more precise date. Like "it's been x month, y days, z hours, w minutes and v seconds".
It feel a bit weird to me to use so many differents units.

I can understand not going star trek and saying "it's been 754.03 kilo seconds" as to not loose the reader. The choice of which units to use can be interesting too. Year and day relate to the planet and sun. Month feel related to moon cycle, week to human customs
